Legal & Compliance Analyst

Role Summary:

We are looking for a Legal & Compliance Analyst to support the Legal and Compliance Unit in ensuring NASD’s operations and activities comply with regulatory standards and internal policies. The ideal candidate must possess a strong understanding of the capital market environment and experience working within it as well a strong understanding of corporate and commercial transaction. Please Note: Candidates must hold a degree in Law (LL. B) with at least a Second-Class Upper (2:1), have completed BL qualification, and possess a minimum of 4 years’ post call experience in the capital market or financial services sector.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing legal and compliance support across all departments.
  • Reviewing contracts, agreements, and legal documents to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Monitoring compliance with SEC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assisting in the preparation and submission of regulatory filings.
  • Advising on corporate governance practices and compliance frameworks.
  • Conducting research on capital market laws, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Supporting policy development, internal audits, and staff training on compliance matters.
  • Assisting in dispute resolution, correspondences, and liaison with external counsel or regulators.
  • Conducting due diligence exercises of Capital Market participants
  • Carrying, Monitoring, and surveillance exercises
  • Conducting in-depth legal research as may be required
  • Drafting Rules and Polices as may be required for the regulation of Market Participants and

Qualifications:

  • LL. B and BL from a recognized institution with at least a Second-Class Upper (2:1).
  • Minimum of 4–5 years of relevant experience in the capital market or financial services
  • Membership in professional bodies (ICSAN, CIS, NBA, etc.) is an added advantage.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian capital market laws and regulatory framework.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent legal drafting, research, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Integrity, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team.
